The Jordan Peterson Phenomenon: Nikos Sotirakopoulos

The second of two autumn 2019 ‘Tetley Talks’ examining the ideas of two controversial thinkers – one past, one present. Nikos Sotirakopoulos is a lecturer in sociology at York St John University. He has researched on how, in the last decades, some of the core values and concepts of modernity and the Enlightenment – such as individual agency and material progress – have been problematised in the narratives both of the new left and of the mainstream and extreme right. He is author of The Rise of Lifestyle Activism: From New Left to Occupy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016), and the forthcoming Identity Politics and the Culture Wars: Understanding the Tribalist Mind. Since 2017 Nikos has been an academic adviser for the Ayn Rand Centre.
