Burritts Island Cottage on Georgian Bay | Dewson Architects | 4K

Accessible only by boat, this contemporary post-and-beam cottage is set on an island among the water and boreal forest of the Canadian Shield. The timber structure is Douglas fir from western Canada and the finishes are locally sourced spruce, birch, maple, pine and walnut. The main congregation space cantilevers over Burritts inlet, providing infinity views to the east in the morning, the west in the evening, and the south throughout the day, animating the atmosphere for all. A massive granite fireplace anchors this area, with sleeping and bathing facilities nestled in the forest beyond.
