sage day one home
Bare with me! I read a few comments, I did not Plan out these videos while taking them on my cellphone mostly, in instagram & tiktok format, so yes they are in portrait mode for the most part... I also am extremely busy (if your offering your services for running my pages, Im all ears) and doing the best I can... Day one has come to and end with Sage home. We brought her to the vet clinic with the hopes of us returning her to the herd (A mom is by far the best solution for a foal!!!) so we treated her with this in mind. Giving her an ultra sound to see if she has a hernia, and pulled blood to be tested. We kept the vet visit short - keeping in mind the time frame of being away from the herd. We drove straight back to the mountain with her, and back to the location she was left, ( I also note some people disagree with us taking her initially, BUT we did go to leave her, she made the decision to follow - AND she later on needed emergency surgery! I will get to that part) so in my mind, she was doomed to struggle if we left her on the mountain the first time. We try to get her close to the herd, who is fairly wild and will not even stay close to us. We then re-load her back up and drive ahead of the herds direction of movement, and Jordan & our son Ryder hike with her up the trails aways... Jordan calls me he's found another foal, completely abandoned on the hill side. I start up, he calls again and says it's dead. The decision is made, he's bringing Sage back down. Meanwhile, a passing Vet sees us on the side of a hill and drives out to us...he examines Sage and tells us 'in good conscious you can not leave her out here', which he is exactly correct, we already knew in our heart we will be bringing her home and quitting the attempt to re-connect her to herd. Once home, she is exhausted! She spends her time sleeping and once awake we teach her how to sip out of a bucket. The vet clinic phones with test results. It's a blood hematoma on her stomach, the best we can do is rest, and Ice her stomach for the night. Its remarkable how different in nature Sage and Ranger are... Ranger, is calm and cool, easy going and figures things out quickly; Sage is flighty, uppity and insecure with a fighters soul. We felt angry and frustrated for finding all these foals this spring, the numbers are way higher than other years. Also, overwhelmed with the massive amount of support and celebrity status that Ranger had created. In such a short amount of time Ranger had brought hours of Joy into everyone's life. Now Sage Its been a complete learning curve for us, and everything is so new, the videoing, the social pages, this youtube channel... Foals and their needs. We are adapting and learning and loving them thankyou for your understanding and your following of their story. Every day is a new day, every day is full of experiences & joy. We are just happy to share them all with you We are accepting donations for vet bills and milk through paypal or etransfers or direct payments to our vet clinic. thankyou Camilles *videos are shared with CandiceCamillePhotography pages.
