Grounded: Sabre Airways
Sabre Airways was an airline launched in controversy, it's foundation was ill timed with the downfall of Ambassador Airways, it's connection to the infamous Peach Air was well known and despite rebranding & relaunching itself it's sucessor would fail spectacularly 10 years ago this month. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, this episode of Grounded takes a look at the history of Sabre Airways, how they formed and grew, how they rode considerable good fortune to establish themselves and relaunch as one of the UK's largest charter airlines and also how they nearly never made it that far and almost ended up a small cog in a bigger machine. This is the story of Sabre Airways... We are doing a several episode special marking the ten year anniversary of the demise of XL Airways, the next episode will look at Excel Airways from it's rebranding from Sabre right up until the night of 11th September 2008.
