Hello! Today I will show you the simplest and most inexpensive cloisonné enamel available to most hobbyists. It is enamel on copper with deaf enamels. We will look at enamel polishing in the next lesson, since this is a separate processing process. I consider cloisonné enamel to be a high art, therefore, it is impossible to tell about it in a five-minute video. To get started, we need a copper blank with the counter-enamel already made and a sketch made to the size of the blank. It's easy to draw it yourself. First, we apply a thin layer of transparent enamel to the workpiece and bake it in a muffle furnace. What tools are needed for working with enamel you can see in the video How to melt enamel. This is necessary in order to secure the partitions to the workpiece. After the layer of transparent enamel on the workpiece is fired, we proceed to bending the wire. If the copper wire is stiff and does not bend well, it can be annealed with a small hand torch with my TOPEX. This will also require a soldering board. I have Buran. For safety, the plank can be placed in a pan filled with small stones. If scale appears, it must be washed off. I had enough water, but I may need bleach (boiled citric acid + water) After the wire is ready, start bending. Round shapes can be obtained by wrapping around a tassel. Square - made with tweezers. Rolled flat copper wire is easy to buy at the Craftsmen's Fair, it is not expensive. However, the wire consumption for enameling is high. 1 meter may not be enough. When the drawing is fully typed, you can proceed to the layout of the partitions on the workpiece. For this we need a Klyr-Fire binder. Gently lower the bottom side of the partitions into the binder and lay it out on the workpiece. It takes patience, the partitions often come off. The partitions must touch each other. If there is at least some distance between them, then there will be no clear boundaries between enamels of different colors. When all the partitions are transferred to the workpiece, we leave them until the binder is completely dry. After the binder has dried, the partitions hold a little on the workpiece, they must be carefully transferred to a muffle furnace, heated to 800 degrees and fired for 1.5 minutes. After firing and cooling the workpiece, the partitions are securely fixed on the base. Dross must be washed off under water. The workpiece is then ready for the application of colored opaque enamels. Before applying the enamel, it is necessary to rinse in distilled or drinking water several times until the water is transparent. This can be clearly seen in the video. Apply the enamel carefully, without stepping over the partitions. Then we dry each layer until it is completely dry, if moisture remains in the enamel, it is "sprayed" over the workpiece and dirt will appear on individual colors. This gives a sloppy look to the work. The scale must be washed off. It is also allowed to apply separate fragments of flowers. In some cases, this makes work easier. Try to achieve the same level of enamel in height. This will make it easier to polish which I will cover in the next video tutorial.
