Marc Castellnou Seminar: Extreme fire events: intensification and decoupling
Featuring Marc Castellnou; Fire Chief and GRAF (prescribed fire) Team Leader, Catalan Fire Service. Marc Castellnou, the Founder and Former President of Pau Costa Foundation, also holds a teaching position at the University of Lleida in the MasterFUEGO program. He began his career in the fire sector as a firefighter in 1989 and transitioned to become a fire-ecology forester in 1997. Castellnou assumed his current role as incident commander and Wildfire strategic analyst at Catalan Fire Service in 1999, where he established prescribed fire GRAF teams and developed prescribed burn plans and wildfire training programs. Since 2021, he has been pursuing a Ph.D. in boundary layer physics and wildfire-induced fire spread pattern changes at Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.
