However, since this isn't a "crib" for a baby, but is a bed for an older child, I'm not sure if the standards apply in this case. So, please be aware, the standards are not followed in this plan. The great thing about building it yourself is that you can customize it however you wish. And since this particular project was built for an older toddler, the spacing for the rails used here seemed adequate for his size. However, if you prefer to stick to the standards, please take note to do your own research before building your own as these "industry standards" are always subject to change. I encourage you to do what you are comfortable doing.
