Parents caring for children with dementia feel 'helpless and broken' #health #news #parenting

Most people don’t know about childhood dementia, but it’s a devastating reality for hundreds of families across the country - two of which we're hearing from tonight. A report from the charity Alzheimer Scotland has found "catastrophic failures" in the current system to support these youngsters and their families - concluding that the condition is poorly understood and overlooked by policymakers. The Scottish Government told us it recognises the significant impact of the condition and is working to improve awareness and understanding among the public and healthcare professionals.
