The Mariënberg - Almelo railway line, opened on October 1, 1906, connects Mariënberg with Almelo. The route is single-track, with crossing options in Vroomshoop and Vriezenveen. Train service on this line is decentralized and is managed by the provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe, and the Twente region. Following a tender process, the operator has been Arriva since December 9, 2012. This operator, along with the Zwolle - Emmen railway line, has been renamed Vechtdallijnen for commercial purposes.
