LA PESCA NEI QUADRI (Il Quadro, El Quàder) I quadri fanesi, che ricordano i trabucchi della costa abruzzese e pugliese, sono i casotti in legno costruiti lungo i moli già dai primi anni del ‘900. Chiamati “bilance” o “lugèrne” a seconda delle zone, a Fano sono conosciuti come “quadri”.Una parola che viene dal dialetto fanese “quader” e che indica il perimetro quadrato di ferro su cui era ssata la rete da pesca. Le strutture dei quadri, appoggiate su pali piantati in profondità nella sabbia, erano semplici e funzionali, e consentivano di pescare anche quando il mare era troppo mosso per uscire in barca.Il processo di ammodernamento dei primi anni 2000 li ha adeguati alle norme di sicurezza e ha reso possibile continuare ad utilizzarli.Ma se un tempo la pesca con i quadri era anche destinata alla vendita, oggi è puramente amatoriale. 🇬🇧 A TOUR TO EXPLORE THE LOCAL FISHING AND SEAGOING TRADITION Fano, a seafaring town for generations. FISHING FROM THE “QUADRI” (The “Quadro”, “El Quàder”) The quadri of Fano, similar to the shing huts of the coasts of Abruzzo and Puglia, are the wooden shelters erected along the quays starting in the early 20thC. Elsewhere they are known as “bilance” or “lugèrne”, depending on the area, but in Fano they are called “quadri”.This name derives from the Fano dialect word “quader”, or square, after the square metal frame which supported the shing net. With their simple, functional structure, standing on posts driven deep into the sand, the quadri made shing possible even when the sea was too rough for boats to be used. In the early years 2000 they were modernised to bring them up to date with current safety standards and enable their continued use.Although in the past the sh caught using the quadri was intended for sale, nowadays they are only used by amateur shermen.
