You're given a deck of 40 cards and you have to chain together duels against increasingly powerful opponents who, with each victory, will offer you a random card that you can decide whether or not to include in your deck. And it's precisely for this reason that this speedrun is widely considered the cruelest speedrun of all time. We have to build a 40-card deck in a game that contains 722, but of those 722, only a few are viable, drowned among hundreds of completely useless ones. What this means is that when thinking about a perfect run, we could easily obsess over the time saved, but in such a random system, time saved isn't the right metric. The real question is: what are the odds of it actually happening?
