We Rented a 5,500 lb Machine to Eat Our Problem

We took something that's slowly been killing our oak tree and turned it into a resource. My brother came up to help me feed a 5,500 lb commercial chipper, and we spent the day hauling dead, mycelium-rotted wood out from under the trees and converting it into mulch. Too far gone for firewood, too dense and twisted for much of anything but sitting there as a fire hazard and burden on an ancient tree's roots. Look at something that seems like a problem, figure out what it actually is, and find the use in it. Nature doesn't make waste. We're just learning how to stop doing that ourselves. Also, somewhere in here you'll hear a sound we can't identify. Some kind of animal call, mountain lion? Bobcat? We have no idea what it is. If you know, drop it in the comments. We want to know too.
