The Journey to Chopta Was Brutal | GARHWAL EXPEDITION

The mountains had other plans this time. After days of nonstop rain in the forests near Madmaheshwar, slippery trails, wildlife tracking, and difficult jungle routes, I finally completed an important part of my Himalayan Serow fieldwork. But the expedition was far from over. From dangerous wet trails to a crazy tractor ride out of the mountains, this journey slowly pushed me towards the cold and empty landscapes of Chopta. With continuous rainfall and snowfall warnings everywhere, the weather kept getting worse. Late at night, I reached an isolated Chopta with almost nobody around. Just rain, darkness, cold winds, and silence in the mountains.
