Success Story of the AIRTEA Project

Abi Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Abi ZARDI) is spearheading a key project called "Harnessing Multi-Stakeholder Innovation Platforms for Knowledge Transfer and Aquaculture Chain Development in Uganda," which is part of the broader "Strengthening Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation for Inclusive Rural Transformation and Livelihoods in Eastern Africa (AIRTEA)" initiative. This project is supported by the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) and funded by the European Union through the ACP Innovation Fund. The project partners include the Aquaculture Research and Development Center (ARDC) – Kajjansi, eight (8) other Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institutes (ZARDIs) of the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO), the Private Sector Foundation Uganda, Uganda National Women's Fish Organisation (UNWFO), and the World Aquaculture Society African Chapter. Through this project, Abi ZARDI has established vibrant Aquaculture Innovation Platforms (AIPs) that bring together key stakeholders within Uganda's aquaculture value chain, fostering sustainable cooperation and facilitating knowledge exchange.
