Purity Culture: Wie gefährlich ist kein Sex vor der Ehe?

Underage girls who promise their fathers at celebratory balls (purity balls) that they won't have sex before marriage. Sealed with a ring that reminds them of this at all times of day! 💍 👀 According to stern.de, one in eight girls in the US wants to enter marriage as a virgin; even kissing is taboo beforehand. In the 1990s, the purity movement gained traction due to rising teen pregnancies and HIV infections. The events are usually organized by Christian groups and take place in the Midwest and South of the US. Role models for the chastity movement are often up-and-coming Disney Channel stars. Stars like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have since removed their rings. Linda Kay Klein, who has left the purity culture, reports on what the purity culture has done to these girls and young women and how, even years after leaving, it's difficult to maintain a healthy relationship with one's own sexuality.
