The Chappaquiddick Conspiracy

Over the past 56 years, the exact details as to what happened on the night of July 18-19, 1969 in the Chappaquiddick region of Martha´s Vineyard remain a mystery. Despite plenty of conflicting reports and accounts being made by all parties, no one knows for certain what happened that faithful night. This documentary revisits the Chappaquiddick incident involving U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy and former RFK campaign staff member Mary Jo Kopechne; with the added insight of a former Martha´s Vineyard Sheriff and his son as they discuss the concrete details of the case and reveal new insight that has never been brought to mainstream attention. Eyewitness accounts from former family members and government documents combine to present a tale of tragedy, mystery, and possible deception as the truth becomes more and more uncertain, bringing the idea of Senatorial privilege and true justice into question. This documentary was produced by Zachary Lefferts, a senior at West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School as part of the Video 4: Documentary Filmmaking class.
