Dalwal is the oldest and largest town in Kahun Valley. It is also great in terms of population and area. According to eminent scholars, "Dalwals" are a caste of Hindus. They are believed to be the descendants of a Brahmin who married a gwalan. In India, he is also called Dangwal which means hilltop and Dangwal The people who reside in Janjua are called Dilli because there was a king in Pandu Khan who was nicknamed "Dilli" or his parents affectionately called Dilli. were It was said that Delhi was settled by Jad Dhalo or Dao. Descendants of this Ra Jalo are called Dhillon Rajputs. The word Dandut is derived from Dandwal. It is a Sanskrit word meaning to play Cornish before an idol. Dilli is also a Hindi word which means the top of a mountain range. Local elders consider the founder of Dalwal to be Raja Daulat Khan alias Dulu, who is fourth in descent from Raja Vir Khan, son of Rajamal, in the Janjua family tree but I do not agree with this theory because Dalwal is a very old town, while Daulat Khan's reign dates back to the 10th and 11th centuries AD. If Raja Dulu is accepted as the etymology of Dalwal, then the ancient name of the place must have been something else. It is believed that the settlement of Dalwal will first be settled in the place of the ruins on the south side of Jatarwal. After the destruction of Jatarwal, people migrated here and named it Dalwal. By the way, most of the population of Dalwal lives on the slopes. This sloping site can also be a corrupted form of Dhalwal or Dalwal. Dalwal complex comprises a Main Temple, a small shrine or samadhi, and a ruined structure identified as baithak or hujra. According to the locals, it is now under the Department of Archaeology, Punjab. Some researchers say that it could have served as the residence of a Hindu priest or custodian of the nearby temples. The building is in dilapidated condition. Baithak is a double-story structure. The ground floor covers an area of 961 square feet; the upper floor has fallen with only a couple of walls in situ. From the existing structure, it is difficult to determine the purpose of the rooms found in the building. The upper story appears to have the same layout as the ground floor. The staircase in the southwestern corner leads to the upper floor. A well, approximately 300 meters east of the building, is functional, and the cultivators of fields for irrigation still use its water. Some researchers say that this is the same baithak or haveli in which Maharaja Ranjit Singh's wife also lived for some time. It is also said that a secret tunnel from this mansion used to lead to Katas Raj Temples which is now closed. There is another structure in proximity, approximately 500 meters east of the Main Temple of Dalwal. The building is under the Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department, Government of Punjab and is ruined. It is square in plan and devoid of any garbha griha or sanctum, indicating that the building was a Samadhi, not a temple. Similar constructions are found throughout the Salt Range, particularly at the Katas Raj temple complex.
