Georgia Death Race - Keeping in communication with Amateur Radio Emergency Services
The Georgia Death Race is a 74ish mile trail running race from Byron Herbert Reece Farm in Blairsville, Ga to Amicalola Falls State Park. The race has 16,000 ft of climbing and 16,000 ft of descent. It is relentless. With a race this remote, we cannot rely on cell phone signal for the safety of our runners. We have partnered with local chapters of the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) in northern Georgia to help us track our runners, and keep in constant communications across our major aid stations. Find more information about ARES http://arrl.org/ares Register for a race at www.runbumtours.com
