Simple Chain and Wire Maintenance
Pop the top off the pedestal to gain access to the chain so it can be properly lubricated. Then head below deck to do the same for the wire. Lubricating the needle bearings is a bonus while the pedestal is open. This demonstration is done with an Edson 336 pedestal and 870 engine controls. Add lubricating the chain & wire and needle bearings as part of your regular maintenance. We recommend doing it seasonally and before any long voyages.
