This is just BAD LUCK! ANOTHER ALTERNATOR GONE! 1 Water Crossing!!

Off to Gordon Country with the kids to hit the tracks. 1st water crossing, nothing out of the ordinary, alternator blown! Whilst we were adventuring Cape York, you'll see in our Cape York Videos, we blew an alternator after crossing Nolans. This one was the genuine Toyota one. It was replaced with a non genuine one whilst up in the Cape. Unfortunately this one didn't last long. Disappointing as it was, we had to stop right there and head back home before the main battery went flat, arriving home on 11.8 volts. Dan from Dan's Automotive, Mort Street Toowoomba was contacted. He is a wealth of knowledge! He confirmed that the after market ones are not good for 4 wheel driving and any dunking of water they fail. However its been suggested that other then a water cooled sealed Alternator ($2,500 worth, before installation) another type that is a combination of genuine and non genuine type of heavy duty alternator, so I'll keep you posted on what that is and how that goes.
