The city of Rio Largo is located in the Metropolitan Region of Maceió, the capital of the state of Alagoas. According to the latest IBGE census from 2022, Rio Largo is the third most populous city in the state. The city is served by road and rail transportation; it is worth noting that Maceió's airport, Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport, is located on land belonging to the municipality of Rio Largo. Industrially, Rio Largo experienced a golden age when it boasted textile factories. Two of these factories, Cachoeira and Progresso, were once part of the Alagoas Spinning and Weaving Company, but today only the ruins of these factories remain. In this video, we'll see the Gustavo Paiva neighborhood (known as Cachoeira) and part of the city center. We'll see the VLT (Light Rail Vehicle) passing through the city in both directions: Maceió-Rio Largo, and Rio Largo-Maceió.
