From Wikipedia Mount Hakone (Hakoneyama) is a collective term for a series of volcanoes centered around Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture, straddling Kanagawa and Shizuoka Prefectures (see the "Major Mountains" section for a breakdown). It is designated as part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The place name "Hakone" was originally written as "Hakone," but "Mount Hakone" was also written as "Hakoneyama" and sometimes called "Kanrei" (remnants of this name can be seen in place names such as Kanreidomon and Kannamimachi). From the Hakone Town website The hiking trails around Owakudani were closed for a long time due to the risk of volcanic gases following a small eruption at Owakudani in 2015. However, recent surveys have shown that no volcanic gases have been detected, and repair work on the course has now been completed, so we have decided to open the course between Komagatake and Kamiyama. In addition, by using the course between Bogasawa and Hakone Kuzuryu Forest Therapy Road in conjunction with the opening of this course, it is now possible to travel around the courses around Komagatake and Kamiyama.
