According to the so-called multiverse hypothesis, the universe is not all that physically exists. According to it, other universes also exist "out there," just as real as ours, though different. Strictly speaking, however, we should speak not so much of the multiverse hypothesis as of hypotheses, because there are—nomen omen—many of them. What are these hypotheses and where did they come from? Is there a place and need for multiverse(s) in relativistic cosmology and quantum mechanics?
