How many pockets should a backpack consist of?
The number of pockets a backpack should have is based upon personal preference. Most top loading backpacks only have 4-6 pockets. For example, the Osprey Exos has just 6 pockets (7 if counting the hydration bladder pouch). On the other hand, Near Zero’s The DEAN 55L is an organizational backpack with 17 pockets and labeled dividers. Most pockets are see-through, and have labels. This helps improve with organization and avoid forgetting critical gear.
