The Condor and the Pelican

So today on my walk I was pleased to see a Sterling Condor, just sitting there. Knowing full well these 12+ year old trucks are going away, I decided to take a couple of pictures. I struck up a conversation with the driver, who was a very nice man, about the sweepers, and how those people can keep track of all the varying routes and times. He filled me in that in fact the driver of the sweeper, an Elgin Pelican, was in fact the same driver who comes by the place I'm living in currently and was due in a bout 10 min! Fun times! So I waited for her to arrive, and so she did. Long Beach is currently replacing these with another sweepers. Long Beach is currently purchasing Schwartz Air Sweepers, and unfortunately those will not be going to be dumping in this fashion, but rather will go to the dump to unload. So enjoy this video while you can, it may be the last time you get to see one of these in action.
