Charley Boorman & Claudio Von Planta talk Long Way Round & Down with a brief insight to Long Way Up
Continuing on from last weeks instalment from the Armchair Adventure Festival. Charley Boorman joined Claudio Von Planta and Billy Ward on the Armchair Adventure stage to give a fascinating insight in to his life going all the way back to his very first bike! The three also discuss Long Way Round, The Long Way Down and give a brief insight in to the hugely anticipated Long Way Up!! Charley Boorman’s name is intrinsically linked to the world of travel and adventure having successfully produced adventure travel documentaries for the BBC, SKY, Channel Five and the National Geographic Channel since 2004. His first iconic adventure was the award-winning series Long Way Round biking overland from London to New York via Europe and Asia alongside Ewan McGregor. Charley returned to the saddle with Ewan in 2007 for the Long Way Down, which saw the duo travel from John O’Groats to Cape Town. Many would argue that although scores of people had done similar adventures before, the Long Way Round crested a wave of interest and pushed open the gates to many a wannabe adventurer. As Charley puts it “If a couple of actors can ride around the world – then anyone can. You just need to pack and go – and the adventure just unfolds.” Next Week we'll be sharing Jamie Ramsays talk from the Friday Night of the Armchair Adventure Festival. The guy really is Britains answer to Forest Gump and he tells the amazing story of is run across the length of the Americas! Can't wait till then though? No worries, you can watch his talk right now on our Patreon page. It's just $3 a month and you get access to bonus and behind the scenes content too!
