BOHO Dresser Makeover with IOD Molds and Transfers and a Drippy Finish

Watch me while I run through how I created a mini gallery wall on a gorgeous carved pine dresser. I was lucky enough to be given this gorgeous dresser by a lovely customer. My intention was to paint it and add a oriental type flower down the front however at the time of painting I had ordered the new IOD frames mould so this set the scene on my inspo and ideas. And to be honest I just couldn't wait to use it 😃 Before you begin wash your piece thoroughly inside and out...this helps prevent issues with paint not sticking but also gets rid of dirt. My piece was spotless but I still washed it. I didn't film this as it was shaping up to be a long video. 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 0:56 Showing the piece before it all starts 1:50 Chapter 1 3:20 Chapter 2 14:42 Chapter 3 Chapter 1 I began the piece by painting the whole dresser and frame of mirror in Annie Sloan's Emperors Silk Chalk Paint. Chapter 2 I then after letting both coats dry thoroughly moved on to the blending ragging and chippy finish. I applied a layered finish using a ragging technique and diluted paint in Annie Sloan's Honfleur and Scandinavian pink. I explain the half paint half water in the video. I added texture and more pink till I was happy and then let this dry. Chapter 3 I then cast 2 sets of the frames with Amazing casting resin. I glued them onto the front of the drawers creating my own mini feature gallery wall. I painted them with Annie Sloan's French Linen giving them a painterly look and then used gilding adhesive to glue on gold leaf and gild them. I applied the IOD painterly florals transfer (roses only) in the frames and through the frames. I added some greens to frame out my gallery give it even more of a distressed chippy drippy look and add depth and interest to the front details. After everything was dry, I applied lacquer and two coats of wax to protect the work. The inside of pine drawers also were quite dry so I added some big mamma's butter to hydrate the wood and help the drawers run smoothly. I didn't film this but just in case you have drawers that are a little dry and stick this helps the condition of the wood and makes them smell delicious....ha ha Thanks so much for watching this tutorial I really appreciate it.
