The End of the Tokyo Express: Bougainville, 1943 - Animated
In late 1943, the fighting for Bougainville opened a new phase in the war for the Solomon Islands as American forces landed at Cape Torokina to build a lodgment within range of the great Japanese base at Rabaul. To challenge that move, Japanese surface forces came down from Rabaul and Buka by night, hoping to strike transports, disrupt the beachhead, and keep control of the surrounding waters, while American cruisers and destroyers moved out to block them in darkness. ►Website: www.houseofhistory.tv Every video on House of History is manually animated, researched and written from scratch.
