Brest, l'une des villes les plus économes de France

€759 per inhabitant is what Brest City Hall spends to run the city, ranked among the most energy-efficient in France. This high score is primarily due to the transfer of responsibilities from the municipality to the metropolitan area. Created in 1974, the Brest metropolitan area manages green spaces, roads, and public transportation, relieving the municipality of the corresponding costs. This strong integration of responsibilities also allows for economies of scale by pooling the two structures' roles and enabling group orders, energy renovations, and investments in equipment.
