Riding One of Germany's Rarest Trains | Wendelsteinbahn Rack Railway 4K

🚂 On our journey, we visited the legendary Wendelstein Rack Railway—or Wendelsteinbahn as it is called in German—sometimes simply referred to as the Wendelstein Railway. This impressive line is an electrically powered meter-gauge rack railway that carves its way up the rugged slopes of Mount Wendelstein in the Upper Bavarian Limestone Alps. While there is also a spectacular cable car leading to the top, known as the Wendelstein Cable Car, we focused entirely on the historic train ride for this adventure. 🏔️ Climbing an incredible vertical distance up to a height of 1,217 meters, the Wendelstein Railway holds a special place in railway history as one of only four working rack railways left in Germany—alongside the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway, the Drachenfels Railway, and the Stuttgart Rack Railway. It also proudly stands as the second highest railway in the entire country, surpassed only by the Zugspitze, but it claims the title of the absolute tallest when considering only completely open-air railways.
