Pernell Roberts was an American actor best known for his roles in popular television shows of the 1960s and 1970s. Born in Georgia in 1928, Roberts began his career on stage before transitioning to film and television. He achieved widespread fame as the oldest Cartwright brother, Adam, on the popular Western series "Bonanza." Later, he starred as Trapper John on the medical drama "Trapper John, M.D." Despite his success as an actor, Roberts was known for his outspoken political views and sometimes clashed with producers and directors.
