Um carro de cada montadora do Brasil atravessou a selva para chegar em Brasília. Uma história épica!

A car from every automaker in Brazil crossed the jungle to reach Brasília. An epic story! It was in the 1950s that Brazil realized it needed an automotive industry. Getúlio Vargas took the first step, moving from the prehistory of the Brazilian automotive industry to the first contacts with major automakers. However, it was only after Juscelino Kubitschek took office and the creation of GEIA (Executive Group for the Automotive Industry) that the major European and North American automakers actually came to Brazil. Volkswagen, Simca, DKW Vemag, Willys Overland, Renault – all came as a result of partnerships made during Juscelino's government. Juscelino was also responsible for the construction of Brazil's current capital, Brasília. And it was precisely to celebrate the construction of Brasília and the arrival of new car manufacturers in Brazil that the National Integration Caravan was organized. Starting from the four cardinal points, the southern column departed from Porto Alegre, the western column from Cuiabá, the eastern column from Rio de Janeiro, and the northern column from Belém. Since the Belém-Brasília highway was not yet ready, this column experienced a true adventure through the heart of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. They faced venomous snakes, jaguars, mosquitoes, and even dangerous indigenous tribes. Mercedes-Benz provided the trucks and four-wheel-drive buses to cover sections that included ferry crossings and mudflats. The caravan entered Brasília a few months before its inauguration, in a grand celebration where the President of the Republic arrived by helicopter and paraded through the capital in a large motorcade. One vehicle from each brand that produced in Brazil at that time entered Brasília. In this video, I tell you a small part of the history of cars in Brazil, the arrival of the first car manufacturers, and some highways. Long before Ford, Chevrolet, or Chrysler arrived. Here I recount the beginning of the opening of the Brazilian market. Don't forget to like and share with your friends.
