CVPD Active Shooter Demo - 2 minute

This new and innovative response technique, using Air Support as a First Responder, providing Aerial Intelligence-led Police and Fire Response to fast-developing emergencies, is demonstrated here by the Chula Vista Police Department and Cape Aerial Telepresence Inc. This idea, an intuitive and progressive enhanced public safety response technique, developed out of a unique collaboration between members of the Chula Vista Police Department and Cape Aerial Telepresence. This partnership between public and private sectors, made possible through the DOT/FAA’s IPP Progra, is just one of several concepts being tested and developed by the San Diego City IPP Team. CVPD and Cape, leaders in the public safety concept of operations for the SD IPP will benefit the community with a faster, safer, and more effective public safety service. Rather than relying on second or even third-hand audible communications about what is happening at any critical incident, UAS response and video intelligence has the real potential to provide first responders with an immediate, real-time view of what is happening anywhere at any time. With necessarily limited resources, and increased challenges such as terrorism, active shooters, police ambushes, life-threatening fires, and natural disasters, the ability to let first responders see and evaluate what is happening at any scene, BEFORE they arrive, is a game changer.
