Rarely played live, The Barr Brothers perform "Never Been A Captain" live in concert during their encore set at The Independent in San Francisco, California on June 7, 2019. Never Been A Captain originally appeared on their 2015 Alta Falls EP, which contained outtakes from the Sleeping Operator sessions. This was the third and final night of the band's "Album Nightly" stint at The Independent, where they played a different album in its entirety each night. The Barr Brothers are Brad Barr (lead vocals and guitar) and Andrew Barr (drums). Joining them were Eveline Gregoire-Rousseau (harp), Morgan Moore (bass), Brett Lanier (pedal steel guitar), and Elizabeth Powell (backing vocals) from the band Land Of Talk. Founding member Sarah Pagé (harp) still records with The Barr Brothers, but stopped touring last year. The band was founded and is based in Montréal, Québec; Brad and Andrew Barr moved there from their hometown of Providence, Rhode Island 15 years ago.
