South Asian Stereotypes in Film and Television
UPDATE: Please disregard the Lion scene I inserted from 2:54 - 3:04. I had read one article speculating the narrative of Lion and went with it instead of further researching. I love Lion and Dev Patel is one of my favorite actors. I do not agree with the clip I included at the time of this video's editing. The question can still be applied to the scenes following Lion though! Thank you for watching this video and I hope you can take away something from it and do your own research as well. I made this video essay for a film class I took. I wanted to compile clips that featured South Asians in stereotypical roles and contrast them with new voices that are emerging and combating those stereotypes.
