Small Project: AC Mains Isolation Transformer from Two Broken UPSs (2/2)

Assembling all the parts in an enclosure, wiring them and final tests … ↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓ Warning: This video involves mains AC, which can cause serious injury or death! In part 1 I cobbled together the transformers from two broken APC Smart-UPS 750s (link below) to create an isolation transformer – and it kinda worked. Now it was time to put everything together in one of the UPSs’ enclosures. This was mostly straight forward. Nevertheless I run into some smaller problems and a big (loud) one. Would you believe a transformer and a metal cage make an excellent loudspeaker for AC mains? 00:00 Intro – a warning and lots of parts on the bench 01:52 Second transformer – affixing it to the enclosure 07:20 Front panel – a whole lot of cutouts in ABS and metal 13:35 Wiring – reusing transformer connectors 23:53 Test – noise (!), voltage, isolation and load behavior 30:32 Noise suppression – more metal work Small Projects:    • Small Projects   Small Project: AC Mains Isolation Transformer from Two Broken UPSs (1/2):    • Small Project: AC Mains Isolation Transfor...   Mailbag: Chinese Panel Meters and Nylon Spacer/Standoff Set:    • Mailbag: Chinese Panel Meters and Nylon Sp...   #robertssmorgasbord #project #projects #build #isolationtransformer
