Leitrim Jigs - Kelp, 1985
Dublin traditional group Kelp play a selection of jigs from County Leitrim. Kelp with two fiddle players, two flautists and a pianist play a collection of tunes from Leitrim called ‘Freeman’s Jigs’. The name Kelp is borrowed from a tune from Clare musician Bobby Casey. This episode of ‘Mountain Lark’ was broadcast on 6 May 1985. The presenter is Seosaimhín Ní Bheaglaoich. ‘The Mountain Lark’ was a series of traditional music, song and dance presented by Seosaimhín Ní Bheaglaoich from Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in Monkstown, County Dublin. The sweet high notes of the Mountain Lark are amongst the most beautiful sounds ever heard by human ears.
