Restoring Catholic Identity: The Fundamental Role of the Catholic Family

Catholic social thought begins with the family. This is why, claims Fr. Hugh, that education must come from (and support the efforts of) the family. In fact, Catholic families must be instrumental in the restoration of Catholic education--and all of Catholic culture, for that matter! This isn't to say that families are on their own. Indeed, as the foundations of society, families in parishes and municipal communities can work together to teach their children, and priests and religious have great responsibility in this regard. But any effort in education must serve to support the parents' efforts to form their children. This is the second part of a four-part series on the renewal of Catholic education.
