1 lipca 1916. Dzień Zagłady nad Sommą - część I
The most tragic day in British history and one of the bloodiest in the history of warfare – July 1, 1916, on the Somme in France. On that day, or rather in the 90 minutes between 7:30 and 9:00 AM, 57,500 British soldiers were killed, missing, or seriously wounded. Worst of all, this sacrifice brought no benefit to the attackers, as they failed to breach the excellent German defenses. Another example of the extraordinary absurdity of operations during World War I. We will discuss two battles and two large mine craters: Hawthorn Ridge and Lochnagar. Today, the first part.
