Sir Nigel Gresley GLORY on the English Riviera Express & Deltic MAGIC on the Severn Valley Railway!

During the weekend of my Birthday, 2 Iconic East Coast Legends were in action, LNER A4 pacific steam locomotive no. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley, owned by the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust haulling the English Riviera Express and a Deltic no. D9009 Alycidon, owned by the Deltic Preservation Society hauling a service train on the Severn Valley Railway. I filmed Sir Nigel Gresley on Saturday and the Deltic on Sunday, on my 32nd Birthday. The weather was decent for both of them. I got 4 shots of Sir Nigel Gresley for it's first of many English Riviera Expresses down to Paignton & Kingswear. I filmed the morning run at Beambridge seeing the A4 powering up Whiteball Bank with some assistance from the diesel, but not much. Next was the climb away from Paignton up Churston Bank near Goodrington Sands. Sir Nigel Gresley lost it's footing twice and as a result the diesel had to give it some help, however the A4 still sounded lovely. The afternoon leg started at Noss Marina with Sir Nigel Gresley accelerating away from Kingswear, raising the echoes through the Woods climbing towards Churston, and then finally a high speed run sees the A4 in all it's glory powering alongside the M5 just after Tiverton parkway about to climb Whiteball Bank again before journey's end at Taunton. The next day, I decided to get 2 shots of the Deltic Alycidon hauling a Severn Valley Railway service Train from kidderminster to Bridgnorth in the morning. I filmed the Deltic at Wribbenhall at Bewdley and Eardington Bank and the Deltic sounded amazing. The departure from Bewdley was incredible with it's Napier Engine sounding gorgeous and making some brilliant exhaust and clag. Then my final shot was a run up Eardington Bank to see the Deltic putting on a show from idle to almost full power on the bank itself as it approached Bridgnorth. It was an amazing birthday gift from both of them. Full kudos to the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust, Saphos Trains, The Deltic Preservation Society and the Severn Valley Railway for making my weekend extra special. I hope you enjoy the video.
