The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) hosts the Inaugural Tito Mboweni Memorial Lecture delivered by Professor Axel A Weber, former President of the Deutsche Bundesbank (2004–2011), and President of the Center for Financial Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. The annual lecture has been established to honour the legacy of the late former SARB Governor, who also served as South Africa’s Minister of Finance and Minister of Labour. Throughout his public life, he was a leading voice on sound economic policy and building capable institutions that are transparent, accountable and committed to excellence.
