Dr. Skateboard's action science: Dr. Bill Robertson at TEDxElPaso
Bill Robertson, Ph.D. is currently an Associate Professor in the Teacher Education Department in the College of Education and an Associate Provost for Academic Technologies at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). As an Associate Professor, his academic areas of expertise are in science education, curriculum development and technology integration in the K-12 levels. Bill was a recipient of the 2009 University of Texas Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award and in 2008, he was selected as a Fulbright US Scholar and worked in Santiago, Chile. A long time participant and performer in skateboarding with over 35 years in the sport, he has developed Dr. Skateboard's Action Science (http://www.drskateboard.com), which addresses physical science concepts for middle school students utilizing skateboarding and bicycle motocross (BMX). In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
