Tokushima Prefecture is the only prefecture in Japan without electric trains. I visited its terminal, Tokushima Station. All the trains that pass through the station are diesel railcars. Both old and new, their diesel engines roar as they move. A chorus of idling engines echoed from the adjacent train depot. With an impressive station building and a large bus terminal in front, it looks like a terminal station. A scene that blends past and present is unimaginable from the simple main entrance...
