Hiking St Olav Ways: The Arrival in Oslo

A new adventure begins! I’m hiking through Norway on the Gudbrandsdalsleden, one of the St Olav Ways, a medieval pilgrimage route that leads to the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim (and to the shrine of St Olav).  The Gudbrandsdalsleden is a 643km route that begins in Oslo, and is the most popular of the nine different St Olav Ways. This pilgrimage should take me just under a month to complete, and while it’s similar to a Camino (I’ll carry everything I need on my back, stay in shelters/lodging along the way, have a pilgrim’s passport where I’ll collect stamps), there will some differences too. There won’t be many people walking, the weather and terrain are different, at times the path will be challenging.  As ever, I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness as this new journey begins! June 26, 2024 Lodging in Oslo: Anker Hostel Pilgrim Center Oslo: volunteers who provide great information, guidebooks and pilgrim credentials for sale, first stamps (and you might even get a piece of chocolate!) A big thank you to all of my current patrons (and hello to new members!), your support continues to mean so much to me. And if you’re thinking about joining our group there… come on over! 😊 (Or, if a monthly amount doesn’t feel right, a café con leche ☕️ donation on PayPal is always appreciated!! @nadinewalks) Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nadinewalks?f...
