Bahreïn : la Civilisation des deux mers

A tiny archipelago lost in the Gulf, a stone's throw from the coasts of Saudi Arabia and Qatar… The smallest state in the Arab world, barely fifty kilometers long and twenty wide. For the traveler in a hurry, Bahrain is an airport island, a stopover for businessmen, a land of hotels, oil, and banks. It is also the cradle of a very ancient civilization that, for millennia, knew how to profit from its natural resources: the sea, to feed itself and honor its gods. This film, the fourth installment in the "Archaeological Journeys" series, takes us to the immense necropolises of Bahrain (more than 150,000 tombs stretching as far as the eye can see in the desert), in search of the remains of a prestigious civilization rediscovered just fifty years ago. This is the story of the land of Dilmun and Tylos, one of the last great adventures of archaeology in the Middle East. Director: Alain Jomier
