[D] – Major fire at Europa-Park in Rust: Major firefighting operation at Europa-Park Rust - huge black cloud of smoke over the amusement and theme park - witnesses report multiple explosions - approximately 25,000 visitors evacuated | two firefighters slightly injured A major fire broke out at Europa-Park Rust shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Meter-high flames and a thick black cloud of smoke were visible over the park. The park is currently being evacuated, and a large contingent of firefighters and rescue personnel is on site. Around 25,000 people were in the popular park on this beautiful summer day and had to be evacuated as quickly as possible. According to information from the park management, the fire broke out at around 4:40 p.m. in the "Yomi Magic World of Diamonds" attraction. Fortunately, through a comprehensive firefighting effort, firefighters were able to quickly contain the flames, and the fire is now under control. Eyewitnesses unanimously report several explosions in the initial phase of the fire. According to initial findings, management announced in the evening, the fire broke out in a technical room of the attraction. The fire detectors installed there immediately sounded the alarm, prompting the company fire department and the municipal fire department to be alerted. Police investigators must now determine the cause of the fire. A park spokesperson further explained that the evacuation went smoothly. There were no injuries among the guests. However, two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the firefighting operations. The park will remain closed for today, but overnight guests can return to their hotels shortly.
