If you are sending this signal to your amp you still want this to be an instrument level signal so I try to maintain this level, even after running through all the effect blocks in the Stomp. Louder is not better. You may perceive that the in-built presets sounds better due to their volume but if I’m you simply turn up your amp as you normally would you’ll be able to compare the sounds better. This is my theory anyway I have purchased presets which also increase the volume massively but I just don’t think it’s best thing to feed your amp a hot signal. I’ve configured the volume control on the Stomp to only control the headphone volume so I don’t need to adjust the line out level - I have also edited any presets I have bought to unity gain so that the output volumes are consistent across presets that I play through my amp only. I might be wrong about this but that’s what suits my setup. For presets used for direct recording via the stomp using USB the output volume may be slightly higher to get a sufficient recording level - ideally -18dB on average with peaks no higher than -10dB.
