Role Reversal - June 28, 2026

In Luke 16:19–31, Jesus tells the unforgettable parable of the rich man and Lazarus—a story that powerfully reminds us that the comforts and successes of this life are not indicators of our standing before God. While one man enjoyed luxury and another endured poverty, everything changed after death. This dramatic role reversal points us beyond temporary circumstances to the eternal realities of heaven, hell, and the importance of genuine faith in Christ. In this message, we examine what this parable teaches—and what it doesn't. Jesus isn't condemning wealth or praising poverty as the path to salvation. Instead, He exposes the danger of trusting in earthly riches while neglecting the Lord. We also consider the rich man's desperate requests after death, the finality of eternity, and why God's Word is sufficient to call sinners to repentance.
