Based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, this opera depicts Frida Kahlo emerging from the underworld on the Day of the Dead to reunite with Diego Rivera, her love. American composer Gabriela Lena Frank makes her Metropolitan Opera debut in New York with a magical realism portrait of the iconic Mexican artist couple, with a libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz.
