How to manage Mimosa: an invasive Acacia tree in Portugal

Mimosa is an invasive tree in Portugal. We have been working with it for 8 years and have tried many methods to kill mimosa, such as ring barking, cutting back, and digging out with a bulldozer. Whatever we have done, it has come back, so the question is not how to kill mimosa but how to manage mimosa by working with it. The best way is to work with it through a slow, steady 10-year process and turn it into a canopy of big trees.
